New Delhi, December 11, 2018: Kolkata is the hub of Oriental cuisine, with Tangra being one of the popular joints for Chinese cuisine. Other than Chinese, the city has evolved and developed a taste for other Asian cuisines like – Malaysian, Thai, and Japanese. JW Marriott Kolkata, one of the most popular properties of the city, has hosted numerous such festivals, that has contributed to changing the myths and stereotypes associated with Asian cuisines, and introduced us to a range of delectable Asian delicacies. On that note, loyal guests and patrons can look forward to another stupendous festival, with the property gearing up to offer the city a brand new perspective to the rather inconspicuous Vietnamese cuisine, by hosting a Vietnamese Food Festival. The 9-day long festival from 7th till 16th December will feature a line of scrumptious delicacies from Vietnam curated by visiting specialty chef, Chef Ly.

Chef Ly started her career at the age of 18, as a Western Commis Chef in a local restaurant in Hoi An. Following which, Chef Ly worked across numerous luxury hotels and resorts in Vietnam. Currently, she works in the capacity of Executive Sous Chef at Sheraton Grand Danang Resort, Vietnam. Chef Ly has learnt cooking from her mother who has been her chief source of inspiration to become a chef. She loves creating new dishes by blending various Vietnamese ingredients and renders a unique twist to classic dishes. She is a versatile chef, who incorporates a variety of food techniques, picking tips from cookbooks and cookery shows on YouTube. Her signature dish is ‘Braised Fish with Ginger and Caramel Sauce’, which is a typical main course in families in Central Vietnam.

Signature dishes part of the festival menu will be, vegetarian options such as ‘Pomelo Salad’, ‘Vegetables Soup & Young Tofu Soup’, ‘Avocado Spring Rolls, Light Soya Sauce’, ‘Stir Fried Vegetables with Coconut and Lemongrass’, ‘Stuffed Wild Mushroom in Tofu with Tomato Sauce’, ‘Crispy Sticky Rice with Mushroom and Peanut Sauce’, ‘Stir Fried Noodle with Green Vegetable and Tofu’.
